Various embodiments are described herein for a system and a method for an automated wheelchair and bed system that transforms between wheelchair and bed positions. In one aspect, an automated wheelchair and bed system may comprise a chassis a back mechanism assembly pivotally coupled to the chassis a set rest assembly coupled to the chassis a leg mechanism assembly pivotally coupled to the chassis and a sliding base assembly slidingly coupled to the chassis, the sliding base assembly comprising a sliding base mechanism that moves away a rear portion of the system when the system transitions from a wheelchair position to a bed position and moves towards the rear portion of the system when the system transitions from bed position to wheelchair position.
