The catheter assembly can include a catheter adapter that can include a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The distal end can include a catheter configured to be inserted into a patient's vasculature. The catheter assembly can also include a septum that can be disposed within the lumen of the catheter adapter.
