A method comprising determining a shape for a mold (400) of a dental arch for a patient； identifying a separable feature (450) to be included in the mold, wherein the separable feature is not part of the dental arch of the patient； determining a receiving element (410) to be disposed in the mold to receive the separable feature； and causing fabrication of the mold that includes the receiving element for receiving the separable feature.
