The present invention is a hair dye composition containing an alkaline agent and an oxidizing agent, which contains at least one sugar alcohol selected from the group consisting of (A) a carbonate, (B) an oxidation dye and (C) a sugar alcohol having 4 or more carbon atoms. The alcohol (C) may be alditol.
