PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an absorbent article, capable of simply detecting a foreign material on a roll surface.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an absorbent article includes: sequentially joining while transporting a sheet 1, a constituent material 2 of a short length absorbent article to one surface thereof by an adhesive agent passing the sheet 1 joined with the constituent materials 2 into between nip rolls 4 and 5 to pinch-press the sheet 1 and the constituent materials 2 radiating incident light having laser beam as the light source, in parallel to the axial direction of the roll 4 and from one edge 41 to the other edge 42 of the roll 4, in the nip roll 4 on a constituent material side contacting the constituent material 2, so as to let the incident light pass the vicinity of the peripheral surface of the nip roll on the absorber side receiving light passing the vicinity of the peripheral surface with a light-receiving instrument and detecting whether a foreign material exists or not on the peripheral surface of the roll 4, on the basis of the amount of received light.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】ロール表面の異物を簡単に検出することができる吸収性物品の製造方法を提供すること。【解決手段】シート1を搬送させつつ、その一面に接着剤によって短尺の吸収性物品の構成材料2を順次接合し、構成材料2が接合されたシート1をニップロール4,5間に通してシート1と構成材料2を挟圧する。構成材料2と接触する構成材料側ニップロール4において、ロール4の軸方向と平行に、かつロール4の一側縁41から他縁42に向けて、レーザー光を光源とする入射光を、該入射光が該吸収体側ニップロールの周面近傍を通過するように照射し、該周面近傍を通過した光を受光器で受光する。そして受光量の多少に基づきロール4の周面に異物が存在するか否かを検査する。【選択図】図1
