Wash compositions for topical application are described. The compositions can be stable and well tolerated. Also described, are methods of using such compositions as cosmetic or pharmaceutical products. For example, the compositions can be used for cleansing the skin, preferably of acne patients, without compromising the skin barrier or resulting in over-compensation of sebum production.
