The present invention concerns the use for the production of a cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising at least one aqueous phase of a branched or crosslinked polymer obtained by polymerisation of an aqueous solution of one or a plurality of monomers in water in oil inverse emulsion at least one of the monomers used being an acrylic monomers and one or a plurality of the monomers used being a monomer carrying at least one weak acid function the molar percentage of monomers carrying at least one weak acid function relative to all the monomers used being at least equal to 30% characterised in that: i) polymerisation is carried out with a concentration of all the monomers in aqueous solution belonging to the range of 1.3 mmol to 3.6 mmol per gram of aqueous solution ii) during polymrisation at most 20% of the acid functions present on the monomers have at least one acid function in neutralised form the cosmetic and dermatological compositions obtained in this way and the uses thereof for the cosmetic and dermatological treatment of keratin materials.
