An intravascular self-expanding stent system (1) includes a braid (10) having a proximal end (12), a distal end (14), and a lumen (16) formed therebetween, the braid including a gap. It can be formed from one or more woven wires. The first expansion ring 30 can be connected to the proximal end of the braid. The second expansion ring 40 can be connected to the distal end of the braid. Each expansion ring can include a frame that provides a radial force that expands the braid outwardly, the frame including a plurality of elongated members interconnected by one or more intersections.
