PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium which is used in place of the conventional pedigree by using an optical card, etc., having a large storage capacity to write the information on animals and plants and on which both information written on the conventional pedigree and subsequent breeding information can be recorded. SOLUTION: In this portable information recording medium for managing the breed preservation/improvement history of animals and plants, the recording medium has a rewritable recording area, and on the recording medium, the ID information of the animals and plants, the parents ID information of the animals and plants, biological information showing the characteristics of the animals and plants, and the growth history information of the animals and plants are recorded.
