Embodiments of the invention provideswallowable devices, preparations and methods for deliveringtherapeutic agents within the GI tract such as neutralizingproteins (NP) particularly antibodies which neutralizeinterleukins. Many embodiments provide a swallowabledevice e.g., a capsule for delivering various agents into theintestinal wall (IW). Embodiments also provide agent preparationsthat are configured to be contained within thecapsule, advanced from the capsule into the IW and degradeto release the agent into the bloodstream to producea therapeutic effect. The preparation can be operablycoupled to delivery means having a first configurationwhere the preparation is contained in the capsule and asecond configuration where the preparation is advancedout of the capsule into the IW. Embodiments of the inventionare particularly useful for the delivery of interleukinNP's (INP) for treatment of inflammatory conditions wheresuch INP's are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degradedwithin the GI tract.
