The present invention is directed to nifuratel sulfoxide. In particular, it is directed to the use of nifuratel sulfoxide, or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof, or a physiologically acceptable cocrystal thereof, to treat bacterial infections and, in particular, to treat infections caused by Atopobium and Gardnerella species.
