The present invention is a method of strengthening the fibers of oxidized hair, comprising: (i) washing the oxidized hair； (ii) immersing the washed hair in an aqueous treatment composition； and (iii) soaking. Drying the treated hair, wherein the aqueous treatment composition comprises at least 1% (by weight based on the total weight of the composition) of N-acetylglycine. . The present invention also includes at least 1% (by weight based on the total weight of the composition) N-acetylglycine to increase the reinforcement of the oxidized hair fiber relative to the non-oxidized hair fiber.
