The washing machine (1) further comprises an air intake unit (28) which draws air into the washing tank (4), and a control unit (39) which controls a wash process, a rinse process, and a wringing process. In the wringing process, the control unit (39) presses the article to be washed (2) with the pressing units (8a, 8b), and by the suction unit, sucks out the wash water and the air which has been drawn into the washing tank (4).
