The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating cancer comprising an expression or activity promoting agent for KRT19 as an active ingredient. KRT19 was found to increase proliferation, metastasis, invasion, drug resistance and spherical performance in knockdown breast cancer cells. KRT19 reacted with β-catenin / RAC1 complex to regulate β-catenin stability and intracellular location, -catenin could bind to the NUMB promoter and block the activity of the NOTCH signaling pathway. In addition, KRT19 overexpression can be useful for preventing or treating cancer by decreasing cell proliferation, metastasis, invasion, drug resistance and spheroid formation of breast cancer cells.본 발명은 KRT19의 발현 또는 활성 촉진제를 유효성분으로 포함하는 암 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. KRT19가 넉다운된 유방암 세포에서 증식, 전이, 침윤, 약물 내성 및 구형성능이 높아짐을 확인하였고, KRT19가 β-catenin/RAC1 복합체와 반응하여 β-catenin의 안정성 및 세포 내 위치를 조절하고, 상기 β-catenin은 NUMB 프로모터에 결합하여 NOTCH 신호전달 경로의 활성을 차단할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, KRT19를 과발현시킨 경우, 유방암세포의 세포 증식, 전이, 침습, 약물 내성 및 구형형성을 감소시킴으로써, 이를 암 예방 또는 치료에 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.
