PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain single fibers having excellent deodorizing properties or hygroscopicity due to carbon powder contained therein, a processed material and a loose fiber mass comprising the single fibers and further to provide a method for producing the processed material and the loose fiber mass by which clogging, etc., of a jetting nozzle are not caused and an unpleasant odor, etc., are not emitted when the carbon powder is made to be contained in the processed material and the loose fiber mass. SOLUTION: The single fibers comprise carbon powder in the interior of the fiber and are characterized in that synthetic resin pellets comprising 1-50 wt.% of the carbon powder having <=20 &mum size as a pigment and compounded therein are melted and spun. The processed material is characterized in that the single fibers are twisted into a knitting yarn or a weaving yarn which is then formed into a knitted or a woven fabric. The loose fiber mass is characterized in that the single fibers are opened. The processed material or the loose fiber mass is characterized as comprising the carbon powder contained in the surface of the fibers and/or in the interior among the fibers. The method for producing the processed material is characterized by spraying or impregnating the processed material with a diluted liquid of an emulsion composed of at least the carbon powder, a surfactant and water and then drying the resultant processed material by heating.
