The present invention relates to a method for side grafting pinyon pine (Pinus pinea) on radiata pine (Pinus radiata) stock or rootstock, called P. pinea/P. radiata, and on pinyon pine stock or rootstock, called P. pinea/P. pinea, which allows pinyon pine engraftments in a nursery to be increased, achieving success rates above 85% in Pinus radiata stock and above 75% in Pinus pinea stock, thereby significantly improving the engraftment obtained using the traditional grafting method of replacing the apical scion and which achieves engraftments of approximately 30%. The development of this method is based on the high demand in Chile for grafted plants, which results from the interest in establishing productive gardens and also in specifically addressing a dry fruit with growing demand and the highest price on the world market. Consequently, this method allows a large quantity of quality grafted plants to be produced in the least time possible, resulting in a competitive price. The method for side grafting pinyon pine (Pinus pinea) on radiata pine (Pinus radiata) stock or on the same species (P. pinea), which allows said engraftment to be increased, includes the stages of: a) selecting stock； b) collecting and conditioning scions； c) grafting； and d) maintaining and acclimatising the grafts.
