The present invention relates to use of a licorice extract for enhancing activity of Nrf-2, a method for preparing the same, and a cosmetic composition comprising the same. More specifically, the method for preparing the composition for enhancing activity of Nrf2 comprises the following steps: extracting the Nrf2 activating composition, comprising a licorice extract as an active ingredient, and licorice with an alcohol solvent having 1-4 carbon atoms obtaining powder by freezing and drying the extract obtaining a fraction from the powder by using water and ethyl acetate and obtaining a water fraction from the fraction. According to the present invention, the cosmetic composition has an effect of enhancing ARE activity related to Nrf-2. When the cosmetic composition is applied to skin, homeostasis of the skin, exposed to the outside all the time and suffering from stress, is maintained.
