PURPOSE: A composition containing Oryza sativa cv. chilbo extract is provided to suppress tyrosinase activity and to enhance skin whitening effect without side effect such as cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for skin whitening contains Oryza sativa cv. chilbo extract as an active ingredient. The composition suppresses expression of MITF(microphthalmia-associated transcription factor). A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains the extract as an active ingredient. A health functional food composition for skin whitening contains the extract as an active ingredient. A method for preparing the composition comprises a step of extracting a whitening ingredient from Oryza sativa cv. chilbo using 75-80% ethyl alcohol.본 발명은 피부 멜라닌 합성 저해 효과가 있는 칠보벼 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 피부 미백용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 상기한 본 발명에 의하면, 멜라닌 색소형성에 관여하는 티로시나제 효소의 활성을 억제하고, 멜라닌 합성에 관여하는 티로시나제, TRP-1, TRP-2 효소의 유전자 발현을 감소시켜 미백효과가 우수하고 세포독성 등 부작용이 거의 없으며 제형도 안정적인 피부 미백용 조성물을 제공할 수 있는 이점이 있다.
