The subject invention provides improved diclofenac gel formulations comprising, inter alia, at least 3% wt of diclofenac and at least 3% wt of a fatty alcohol, which provides improved diclofenac delivery across the skin and enables a reduced frequency of administration of the diclofenac gel formulations. The improved diclofenac gel formulations of the present invention may be used in the treatment of both localised and systemic conditions, including treatment of pain and inflammatory disorders.
