PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus with a simple structure, capable of appropriately performing auto exposure control and appropriately performing X-ray imaging control.SOLUTION: An X-ray imaging apparatus, when a plurality of AEC lighting fields for auto exposure exist, detects the existence of an AEC lighting field having a sensitivity area whose all part is not included in an X-ray irradiation area VI, on the basis of positional information on the X-ray irradiation area VI and the AEC lighting fields sensitivity areas. When one or more AEC lighting fields not completely included in the X-ray irradiation area VI exist, these AEC lighting fields are set to be unused. For example, when only an AEC lighting field VR has a sensitivity area whose part is not included in the X-ray irradiation area VI, the AEC lighting field VR is set to be unused.
