A magnetic impedance tomography system comprising an excitation system having several excitation coils for generating an excitation magnetic field for inducing eddy currents in a test volume, a measuring system having several measuring coils for measuring fields generated by induced eddy currents, wherein the measuring coils are located according to the volumetric (3D) geometric arrangement, and the individual measuring coils are oriented essentially transverse to the magnetic field lines of the magnetic field REPRESENTATIONS excitation coils, and a device reconstruction for receiving measurement data from the measuring system and the image reconstruction of the object in the volume from the measured dannym.2.
