The present invention relates to glasses (1) for shielding a wearer thereof against ionizing radiation, in particular X-radiation, comprising a frame (3) and at least one ionizing radiation shielding lens (4), such as a leaded glass lens, which lens is at least partially enclosed by the frame, wherein the frame is composed of a material comprising a mixture of at least a metal like tungsten and a plastic, preferably a plastic suitable to be injection moulded. The invention further relates to a frame for use in a pair of such radiation shielding glasses.
