Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine bisher unbekannte Indikation des altbekannten Wirkstoffes Diclofenac, und zwar die einer Verwendung von Diclofenac einschließlich seiner physiologisch verträglichen Salze zu Prophylaxe und Therapie grippaler Infekte sowie durch grippale Infekte bewirkter Krankheitssymptome. Durch die erfindungsgemäße Verwendung von Diclofenac kann die Vielzahl von Symptomen eines grippalen Infekts mit nur einem einzigen, gut bekannten und nebenwirkungsarmen Wirkstoff überaus effektiv behandelt werden. Durch erfindungsgemäße therapeutische Verwendung von Diclofenac wird außerdem erreicht, dass die einschlägigen Krankheitssymptome grippaler Infekte weitgehend erst gar nicht auftreten, die Erkältungsinfekte mithin blande verlaufen.
