The present invention provides compositions and methods for treating cancer or metastases thereof in a subject. In some embodiments, the method involves administering to the subject a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of at least one immunostimulatory agent. In some embodiments, a combination of at least two immunostimulants is used for treatment. In some embodiments, the combination includes an alpha thymosin peptide and an additional immunostimulatory agent and / or optionally one or more additional anticancer agents.
