PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which can prevent wing portions from easily rupturing, permits the wing portions to be freely enfolded in the crotch portion of shorts, and permits an absorbent body to easily follow the body during wearing.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article has the absorbent body 10, the wing portions 5 extending out from both sides of the absorbent body 10, and side leak preventing portions 6 covering both sides of the face of the absorbent body 10 which butts against the skin. The side leak preventing portions 6 are composed of water-repellent side sheets 61. The side sheets 61 extend out from both sides of the absorbent body 10 and form the whole or a part of the wing portions 5. The side sheets 61 and the back sheets 3 are joined by heat seal lines in the areas outward from an absorber 4 in the width direction. A heat seal line (84) extends to the vicinities of the front side roots of the wing portions 5 from the front end side of the absorbent body 10 and a heat seal line (83) extends to the vicinities of the rear side roots of the wing portions 5 from the front end side of the absorbent main body 10, however a heat seal line is not provided between the vicinities of the roots or discontinuously provided in the longitudinal directions (81).
