A method for producing a filamented whole grain food product comprising: a. mix the whole grain particles with water and pressure cook the whole grain particles to gelatinize at least 90 percent of the starch of the whole grain particles, b. temper cooked whole grain particles, c. pelletize the tempered and cooked whole grain particles in a pelletizer to obtain wholegrain tablets, the pelletizer being in a pressure and temperature condition to provide a continuous filamenting capacity of the integral cereal pellets in continuous crosslinked sheets. d. filament the wholegrain tablets into lattice sheets of whole grain, e. stratify the crosslinked integral cereal sheets to obtain an integral cereal laminate having a thickness of 0.089 to 0.64 cm (0.035-0.250 inches), f. cut the whole grain stratified into whole grain pieces, and g.
