The invention relates to the use of at least one member selected from thegroup consistingof:a. alpha-ketoglutaric acid (AKG)；b. pharmaceutically acceptable salts of alpha-ketoglutaric acid；c. amides of an amino-acid, a dipeptide or a tripeptide and alpha-ketoglutaricacid andpharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof； andd. pharmaceutically acceptable physical mixtures of alpha-ketoglutaric acid orapharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and at least one amino acid or apharmaceutically acceptable salt thereoffor the manufacture of a pharmaceutical preparation or a food or feedsupplement for thetreatment of hypertension or pulmonary hypertension improving blood vesselelasticity in asubject in need thereof.
