The present invention relates to a planting block and a retaining wall structure using the same to form a retaining wall by laying and joining the planting blocks and to take and store water for planting. The planting block of the present invention forms a retaining wall by being laid one upon another with a base block. The planting block comprises a body with a planting groove on the top surface； front and rear supporting members protruding from both inner circumferences of the body towards the planting groove to separately support the front and rear sides of the base block supported in the top； and a drainage part protruding from the bottom of the body to the top at a predetermined height with a drainage hole to pass through the bottom surface of the body from the top. The retaining wall structure by the present invention also includes a base block which is laid with the planting block.
