Nowadays, the need of treating and preventing hepatic diseases has gain importance since they represent one of the first causes of death in the world and an increase in these death cases related to this type of diseases is estimated due to the increase of people suffering from obesity and a high degree of body mass. Some compounds present in plants with antioxidant activity have shown to have a hepatoprotector activity, said activity helping to prevent the increase in the number of deaths caused by hepatic diseases. The present invention refers to the use of the compound luteolin 8-C-ß-[6-deoxy-2-O-(a-l-rhamnopyranosyl)-xylo-hexopyranos-3-ulo sido], derived from luteolin, which is extracted from the Turnera diffusa plant, as an hepaprotector agent.En la actualidad la necesidad de tratar y prevenir enfermedades hepáticas ha tomado gran importancia ya que representan una de las primeras causas de muerte en el mundo y se proyecta que aumenten los casos de muerte por este tipo de enfermedades debido al incremento de personas con obesidad y alto grado de masa corporal. Algunos compuestos presentes en las plantas que poseen actividad antioxidante han demostrado tener actividad hepatoprotectora, dicha actividad ayudará a prevenir el aumento en el número de defunciones por enfermedades hepáticas. La presente invención hace referencia al uso del compuesto luteolina 8-C-ß-[6-deoxy-2-O-(a-l-rhamnopyranosyl)-xylo-hexopyranos-3-ulosi do], derivado de la luteolina que se extrae de la planta Turnera diffusa, como agente hepatoprotector.
