Compositions and methods for the treatment of liver metastases in a subject are disclosed herein. The method involves hepatic artery injection (HAI) of a chimeric antigen receptor-modified T cell (CAR-T), which is very specific for tumor antigens, such as cancerous embryonic antigen (CEA). The HAI method is optimized to maximize exposure of transformed cells to metastatic cells while minimizing exposure to healthy cells.
