The present invention relates to a topical aerosol composition comprising the L- ascorbic acid . The composition comprises (a) L- ascorbic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof , (b) water , (c) a lower alcohol , and (d) an aerosol propellant . In a particular embodiment of the invention , the formulation is operated as an aerosol spray or aerosol foam .
