PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Bacillus thuringiensis gene which is extensively expressed in plants. SOLUTION: The synthetic Bacillus thuringiensis gene derived from a natural Bacillus thuringiensis gene. The synthetic gene encodes a protein having similar function to the protein encoded by the natural Bacillus thuringiensis gene, and the synthetic gene contains a DNA sequence having a more closely resembled application frequency of a codon to the application frequency of the codon in the plant, in which the synthetic Bacillus thuringiensis gene is expressed, than the natural Bacillus thuringiensis gene, from which the synthetic Bacillus thuringiensis gene has been derived. The synthetic gene also has less than about 60% content of (A+T) bases.
