An apparatus for positioning an orthopedic implant, the apparatus includes amagneticreceiver, a processor, and a personal display device. The magnetic receiver isconfigured tosense respective components of one or more magnetic fields generated by afield-generatingdevice coupled to the orthopedic implant, and to produce correspondingelectrical signalsindicative of the sensed components of the one or more magnetic fields. Theprocessor isconfigured to calculate, based on the electrical signals, a position of theorthopedic implantwithin an organ of a patient. The personal display device is configured todisplay at least partof the orthopedic implant overlaid on a scene, based on the positioncalculated by theprocessor.
