The invention relates to a composition comprising: i) at least one imidazole coupler of formula (I) with R1, R2 and R3 as defined in the description ii) at least one oxidation base, preferably of heterocyclic and/or para-phenylenediamine type. The invention also relates to a process for dyeing keratin fibres using ingredients i) and ii) to a kit comprising ingredients i) and ii) and to the use of ingredient i) combined with ii) for dyeing keratin fibres, and to novel couplers. The composition of the invention leads to particularly powerful, chromatic and sparingly selective colourings. Furthermore, the colour build-up on keratin fibres treated with the composition of the invention is very satisfactory.La présente invention concerne une composition comprenant les éléments suivants : i) au moins un coupleur dimidazole de formule (I) comportant R1, R2 et R3 tels que définis dans la description et ii) au moins une base doxydation, de préférence de type hétérocyclique et/ou para-phénylènediamine. Linvention porte également sur un procédé de teinture de fibres de kératine au moyen des ingrédients i) et ii), sur un kit comportant les ingrédients i) et ii), sur lutilisation de lingrédient i) combiné avec ii) pour la teinture de fibres de kératine, et sur de nouveaux coupleurs. La composition selon linvention permet des colorations particulièrement puissantes, chromatiques et modérément sélectives. En outre, laccumulation de couleur sur les fibres de kératine traitées au moyen de la composition selon linvention est très satisfaisante.
