The subject of this invention is to provide a fishing reel capable of correctly assuring elapsed time after a fishing set is thrown in. The solution of this invention is a timer (67) which automatically starts when the rotation of a reel (10) toward a spun-out direction of a fishing line is not detected over a predetermined time, that is, the rotation of the reel (10) toward the spun-out direction of the fishing line stops. The fishing reel includes a reel main body, a spool, a spool sensor, a display unit, and a timer.
