摘要:
A method using data from a computer tomography (CT) scan along a length of a blood vessel to determine the perivascular water index (PVWi) of a blood vessel (the volume of the voxels within a window above and below the attenuation of water that corresponds to the water content around the vessel) by determining the total volume of water within an attenuation window around the attenuation of water within the perivascular space a predetermined distance from the outer wall of the vessel and correcting by dividing the total volume of water determined by the volume of the total perivascular volume. Also claimed is a method for predicting morality risk or risk of a cardiovascular event by using a CT scan of a blood vessel to determine the calcium index (Calcium-i) and fibrous plaque index (FPi) and at least one of fat attenuation index of the perivascular adipose tissue (FAIPVAT) and PVWi. Each of the values determined are then compared to a predetermined cut-off value or using the absolute value to generate an output value that indicates the risk of a cardiovascular event.
