<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent exhibiting high antibacterial effect, an offensive odor-preventing agent for suppressing body odor and offensive odor caused by microorganisms, an oral hygiene product for making the oral cavity sanitary, a dermal hygiene product for making the skin sanitary, a cosmetic and food and beverage each excellent in shelf life. <；P>；SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent and offensive odor-preventing agent each comprises an extract of Macaranga tanarius, preferably an extract of Macaranga tanarius with an organic solvent as an active ingredient. The extract of Macaranga tanarius comprises nymphaeol-B,C, preferably nymphaeol-A and/or propolin A in addition to nymphaeol-B,C. The extract with the organic solvent is produced by extracting Macaranga tanarium with an extraction solvent containing an organic solvent such as a lower alcohol as a main ingredient. The oral hygiene product and the dermal hygiene product each comprises the above antibacterial agent as an active ingredient.
