The support has an elongated supporting arm (12) supported between its longitudinal ends on a base (10). A utility load e.g. monitoring arrangement, and a counterweight (18) are arranged on two connector arms (14, 16) which are supported on ends of the supporting arm for swinging movement about axes (36,38). The connector arms are coupled with one another through a coupling unit and are directed antiparallel to one another in a pivoted position. A spacing between a center of gravity of the counterweight and the axis (38) is equal to a spacing between the axis (38) and a vertical axis (24).
