The present invention discloses recombinant structural E1 and E2 proteins for detecting Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV). The present invention also provides a process for preparing the recombinant structural E1 and E2 proteins and an indirect antibody capture process for detecting CHIKV using recombinant structural E1 and E2 proteins. A diagnostic kit and composition for detection of CHIKV comprising recombinant structural E1 and E2 proteins is also disclosed.
