A process for preparing reconstituted raw leather from pretreated animal leather material comprising: a. expansion of the collagen fibers comprising said pretreated leather material by adding sufficient acid to adjust the pH of said pretreated leather material to a value less than 5； b. crushing said acid treated leather material to give a fiber suspension； C. contraction of the swollen state of the collagen fibers within said suspension by the application of a dehydration agent； d. drying said suspension of crushed leather material in reconstituted raw leather sheets； and. application of a crosslinking agent to the sheets formed of reconstituted raw leather to further strengthen the adhesive strength of the reconstituted raw leather material, in which the dehydration agent that contracts the swollen state of the collagen fibers in the leather material is a neutral salt and an alkaline material, and in which the amount of alkaline material added is sufficient to adjust the pH value of the crushed leather fiber suspension to within the range of 6 to 8.Un procedimiento de preparación de cuero crudo reconstituido a partir de material de cuero animal pretratado que comprende: a. expansión de las fibras de colágeno que comprenden dicho material de cuero pretratado mediante la adición de suficiente ácido para ajustar el pH de dicho material de cuero pretratado a un valor menor de 5； b. trituración de dicho material de cuero tratado con ácido hasta dar una suspensión de fibras； c. contracción del estado hinchado de las fibras de colágeno dentro de dicha suspensión mediante la aplicación de un agente de deshidratación； d. secado de dicha suspensión de material de cuero triturado en láminas de cuero crudo reconstituido； e. aplicación de un agente reticulante a las láminas formadas de cuero crudo reconstituido para fortalecer adicionalmente la resistencia adhesiva del material de cuero crudo reconstituido, en el que el agente de deshidratación que contrae el estado hinchado d
