PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable monomer that forms a polymer having a high refractive index, providing a dental material with high aesthetic appearance in application to the dental material and simultaneously with excellent paste properties (excellent spread characteristics and formability).
SOLUTION: The adamantane derivative includes at least one group represented by formula CH
2 =CR1 -CO-L- äwherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or 1-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon L is an oxygen atom or imino represented by -NR2 - (R2 is hydrogen atom or 1-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon)}, at least one alkyleneoxy group which is not replaced with a hydroxy group and at least one benzene ring which may be substituted.
