Disclosed is an arrangement for identification and tracking of a log. The arrangement comprises at least one imaging device operable to capture at least one image of the log, a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver operable to determine a felling location of the log, a remote server arrangement operable to receive data related to captured at least one image and the determined felling location of the log, and process the received data to create an identification information for the log, and a data processor that is operable to check if a query matches with the identification information in the remote server arrangement, and retrieve identification information corresponding to the matched query.
