There is provided a device (100) operable to pair with one or more other devices and a method of operating the device (100). The device (100) comprises a light detector (102) configured to detect a coded light signal from at least one light source that is separate to the one or more other devices. The coded light signal comprises information associated with the one or more other devices. The device (100) also comprises a processor (104) configured to decode the coded light signal that is detected by the light detector (102) to extract the information associated with the one or more other devices and pair the device (100) with at least one of the one or more other devices using the extracted information.
