The invention relates to medicine and concerns pharmaceutical compositions (formulations) which can be made also, including in the form of dietary supplements, having the properties of protectors of hepatic encephalopathy and hepatoprotectors , including : - Acute (fulminant) hepatic encephalopathy caused by acute liver failure ； - Chronic hepatic encephalopathy, in which the underlying etiology - cirrhosis of the liver caused by alcoholic , non-alcoholic or viral hepatitis , etc. The invention consists in that: the treatment of acute and chronic hepatic encephalopathy include complex compositions, whose components have a synergistic effect on various metabolic and signaling systems , including the activation of: osmoprotectant and energetic systems； detoxification reactions of ammonium ion and other toxins ； antioxidant systems of brain and liver cells, and of other tissues and organs. Compositions for the treatment of acute hepatic encephalopathy contain as a base : L- carnitine , acetyl -L- carnitine and phosphocreatine , and may also contain : N- acetylcysteine and ethanol (1)； succinate , L- glutamate , L- arginine, N- acetylcysteine and betaine (2)； succinate , L- glutamate , L- arginine, and betaine (3)； Compositions for the treatment of chronic hepatic encephalopathies, as bases comprise : L-carnitine , acetyl -L- carnitine , succinate , L- glutamate , L- arginine, betaine, and phosphocreatine , and may also contain : N- acetylcysteine, coenzyme Q10 and dihydroquercetin (4)； S- adenosyl methionine , coenzyme Q10 and dihydroquercetin (5)； S- adenosyl methionine , coenzyme Q10, dihydroquercetin and lipoamide (6). The invention provides the means (preparations) to expand the arsenal of the treatment of the treatment of acute and chronic hepatic encephalopathy,the means hindering the development of coma and death in acute hepatic encephalopathy and providing reverse development of behavioral, neurological and mental disorders in chronic encephalopathy.
