The present invention is a method of treating schizophrenia in a subject in need of treatment, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a selective D3 antagonist, wherein the subject has the following key negative symptoms in PANSS: affective slowdown (N1 ), emotional atrophy (N2), weak Lafor (N3), passive atrophy (N4), and lack of spontaneity (N6).
