PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable body capable of setting maximum speed automatically according to a travel environment, and moving more safely and quickly.SOLUTION: A movable body comprises: a joy stick 22； a motor 16 for generating drive force of travel； and a controller 40 for changing setting of maximum speed by which the movable body can travel. The controller 40 comprises: an operation detection part 42 for calculating a position of the joy stick 22 on the basis of a signal from the joy stick 22； and a maximum speed setting part 44 for setting at least, slow first speed and fast second speed, as maximum speed by which the movable body can travel, on the basis of the output from the operation detection part 42. When the joy stick 22 is positioned in a first area where speed equal to or faster than the preset speed is designated on an operation possible area, in a state that the maximum speed is set to the first speed, the maximum speed setting part 44 changes setting of the maximum speed to the second speed, according to an operation mode of the joy stick 22 in the first area.【課題】走行環境に応じて自動的に最高速度の設定を変更し、より安全且つ迅速な移動を可能にする移動体を提供する。【解決手段】移動体は、ジョイスティック２２と、走行の駆動力を発生するモータ１６と、走行可能な最高速度の設定を変更するコントローラ４０とを備えている。コントローラ４０は、ジョイスティック２２からの信号に基づきジョイスティック２２の位置を算出する操作検出部４２と、操作検出部４２からの出力に基づき、走行可能な最高速度として少なくとも低速の第１速度と高速の第２速度を設定可能な、最高速度設定部４４とを備えている。最高速度が第１速度に設定された状態で、ジョイスティック２２が、操作可能領域のうち予め設定した速度以上の速度が指示される第１領域に位置するときには、最高速度設定部４４は、第１領域におけるジョイスティック２２の操作態様に応じて、最高速度の設定を第２速度に変更する。【選択図】図３
