The winch us used to stabilise the position of the vehicle on a slope while harvesting trees, and assist the vehicle up and down the slope using a cable (20) attached to an anchor point (21). Also disclosed is a method of tree harvesting on a slope using the vehicle as well as an additional winch (23) and cable (24). The vehicle fells the trees, puts them into piles (22) and the additional winch (23) is used to haul them up the slope. Minor variations where the trees are hand felled for example are also disclosed.
