PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, expressing great effects on dermatitis especially on atopic dermatitis while causing no side effect.
SOLUTION: A mugwort essential oil external preparation is an external preparation comprising as an active component, essential oil contained in mugwort, wherein the mugwort raw material parts of the essential oil are branched stems, leaves attached on the stems and/or compound racemes. The mugwort can be harvested in August to October. The essential oil is provided by cold extraction using an ether-based solvent or steam distillation.
