The invention concerns a hand orthosis for supporting the thumb, the orthosis comprising a main part (1) comprising: a first portion (2) in the form of a sleeve fitted to a portion of the thumb extending to the fold area between the thumb and the palm of the hand, a second portion (4) assembled by a seam line in the form of a sleeve fitted to the wrist, a third portion (3) linking the first and second portions, shaped so as to envelop an area of the hand extending along the thumb metacarpal between the back of the hand and the palm, and comprising an opening to allow the palm of the hand to pass therethrough, the main part being shaped so as not to cover the fold area between the thumb and the palm of the hand and being made from an elastic material having a Youngs modulus of between 0.5Mpa and 1Mpa in a direction corresponding to a longitudinal axis of the first portion.Linvention concerne une orthèse de main pour le maintien du pouce, lorthèse comprenant une pièce principale (1) comportant: une première partie (2) en forme de manchon ajustée à une partie du pouce sétendant jusquà la zone de pli entre le pouce et la paume de la main,une seconde partie (4) assemblée par une ligne de couture en forme de manchon ajustée au poignet,une troisième partie (3) reliant les première et seconde parties, conformée pour envelopper une zone de la main sétendant le long du métacarpien du pouce entre le dos et la paume de la main, et comportant une ouverture pour le passage de la paume de la main,la pièce principale étant conformée de manière à ne pas couvrir pas la zone de pli entre le pouce et la paume de la main et étant réalisée en un matériau élastique présentant dans une direction correspondant à une axe longitudinal de la première partie un module de Young compris entre 0,5Mpa et 1Mpa.
