An apparatus comprising a sterilization tray having a base and at least one fastener connected to the tray and configured to removably secure the implant insertion device to the tray. The tray may be free of a first wall so that the proximal end of the implantable device can be axially aligned with the end of the implant insertion device for coupling to the implant insertion device. There may be no second wall so that the tool can be axially aligned with the end of the implant insertion device for threading into the implantable device.
